Michael Kvium (b. 1955) has been called a neo-baroque artist, and the meeting between the Collection's own older art and Kvium's new works created for the exhibition WETLAND can only be fruitful.

Kvium is a technically phenomenal painter and a sensitive seismograph of the world and human folly. He constantly surprises and shocks, while new observations of nature, threatening undertones of danger, and a sense of humour that is both crude and affectionate deeply touch the viewers of his pictures. Many Danes will always remember Kvium's works once they have seen them.

Following a recent relocation, the artist now has peaceful, scenic surroundings where water and land meet in a flat coastal stretch, which has undoubtedly left its mark on the exhibition.
